Sara Wills is a freelance film editor based in Sydney. She is drawn to stories that are emotionally resonant with complex characters. Prioritising these elements is central to her practise, using sound, pace and texture to explore feeling tones and distinguish a story.
Sara began freelance editing whilst studying Media Arts and Production at the University of Technology Sydney, graduating in 2019. She has worked across large-scale TVCs for brands including ASICS, Bumble and Spotify. Her work has also screened at Powerhouse Museum, SXSW and ABC’s Rage TV. Sara’s background in music and photography guides her approach to editing, complementing her understanding of rhythm, composition and storytelling.
Sara acknowledges the Gadigal People as the Traditional Owners and storytellers of the unceded lands on which she works and lives. She pays her respects to Elders past and present, as well as to all First Nations peoples and their continuing connection to land, waters and community. Always was, always will be Aboriginal Land.
